July & August Book Highlights

Can it be that summer vacation is nearly over, and we are just weeks away from school starting up again?  My, how the time flies!  Here are our titles for July and August.

For nonfiction we have several requested titles: Breaking Free by Rachel Jeffs, The Foundling by Paul Fronczak, and Barracoon by Zora Neale Huston. We also have Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson, which has been consistently on the best seller list for several months now.

For fiction, we have a better mix of genres this time around.

In Fantasy and Science Fiction we have Mal Goes to War by Ashton Edward, A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn, When Among Crows by Veronica Roth, and The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo.  Our Deanna Raybourn title is also a pick for our Flights of Fantasy book club.

We have just a smattering of Romance this time around. There is For the Love of Summer by Susan Mallery, Bridgerton Books 1-3 by Julia Quinn, and the It Ends With Us duology by Colleen Hoover.  Several of these were requested titles, so make sure you let us know what you think.

In General, Literary, and Mystery Fiction, we have quite a few titles. Still See You Everywhere by Lisa Gardner, Crow Talk by Eileen Garvin, Women & Children First by Alina Grabowski, Fourteen Days by John Grisham et al, First Frost by Craig Johnson, After Annie by Anna Quindlan, Mind Games by Nora Roberts, The Summer We Started Over by Nancy Thayer, The Heist by Jack Du Brul for Clive Cussler, Camino Ghosts by John Grisham, The 24th Hour by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro, and Eruption by Michael Crichton & James Patterson.

For Historical Fiction we start off with  a title that our Belles & Books Club is reading for August, The Last Carolina Girl by Meagan Church.  We also have Shelterwood by Lisa Wingate.

In Cozy Fiction and Christian Fiction we have Three Can Keep a Secret by M. E. Hiliard and A Season of Harvest by Lauraine Snelling.

Thrillers round out our selection. There is Never Lie by Freida McFadden and One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware.

Some titles we are having trouble getting our hands on include Lucky Shamrock (Large Print) by Carolyn Brown, Lost Birds by Anne Hillerman, Real Americans by Rachel Khong, and Afterburn by Biba Pearce.
