Library News

•The Library will close early at 3:00pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, for Thanksgiving. We have a Drop Box Slot on the north side of the building, in the alley, for after-hours book returns. Please have a safe holiday!

The Belles & Books Club will be meeting Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm here in the Community Room of the City Building. The gals read Silver Bells by LuAnne Rice. Bring a lunch to share and join the food, fun, and fellowship!

• Come see the OKC Zoo program ‘Gotta Go!’ A great family program! Friday December 22 at 10:00am in the Fairview Community Center.  And a ‘Special Guest’ just might make an appearance!

• Check out our Facebook page here !

• Our wifi is free, and available to the public 24/7. You  must be on or near the library grounds to use it, though. It is called ‘Free Library Wifi’ and there is no password to use it.

• Make sure you have a good book – or three – to curl up with on a rainy afternoon!

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church on March 7, 1997, with the Reverend Chuck Gilbert officiating.

Katherine Heloise Acre was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana, on April 18, 1912, to John Neal and Birdie Ruth Riddle Donovan.

She married Eugene Smith at Lake Providence, Louisiana, on May 26, 1929. He died in 1962.

She married Otha Acre in Canton on April 11, 1966.

She is survived by two sons, George Smith of Canton, and Wesley Smith of Ringwood; four daughters, Eugenia Murray of Amarillo, Texas, Jacquelyn Ingram of Enid, Dede Bond of Oakwood, Rebecca Throgmorton of Panhandle, Texas; one stepdaughter Gari Sue Gros of Arlington, Texas; one sister Jacquelyn Hollis of Talula, Louisiana; two brothers Dr. Wesley Donovan of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Kenneth Donovan of Baytown, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
