Library News

•The Library will close early at 3:00pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, for Thanksgiving. We have a Drop Box Slot on the north side of the building, in the alley, for after-hours book returns. Please have a safe holiday!

The Belles & Books Club will be meeting Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm here in the Community Room of the City Building. The gals read Silver Bells by LuAnne Rice. Bring a lunch to share and join the food, fun, and fellowship!

• Come see the OKC Zoo program ‘Gotta Go!’ A great family program! Friday December 22 at 10:00am in the Fairview Community Center.  And a ‘Special Guest’ just might make an appearance!

• Check out our Facebook page here !

• Our wifi is free, and available to the public 24/7. You  must be on or near the library grounds to use it, though. It is called ‘Free Library Wifi’ and there is no password to use it.

• Make sure you have a good book – or three – to curl up with on a rainy afternoon!

Funeral services were held at the Nazerene Church Wednesday, May 2, 1928, with Pastor A. H. Harris officiating.

John Stran Abbott was born near Marion, Iowa, on April 2, 1851; parents unknown.

He married Esther Floyd in 1873, with four surviving children.  He married Rose Evert of Rockville, Missouri, with nine surviving children.

He is survived by his children Jacob L. Abbott of Enid, Mrs. Nora Duron and Mrs. Rosa Fry of Center Point, Iowa, Mrs. Blanch McCoy of Beaver, John C. Abbott of Fairview, Mrs. Pheoba Manning of Pueblo, Colorado, Mrs. Minnie Rathbun of Fairview, Henry C. Abbott of Fairview, Roy E. Abbott of Vinita, Aaron F. Abbott of Altus, Clarence C. Abbott of Fairview, Ralph L. Abbott of Fairview, and Ruth C. Abbott of Fairview; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister in Missouri; one brother in Iowa.
